Their new album, "California Centuries," finds the band delving deep into themes of collective denial ("Bad Things"), gaslighting ("Invisible" and "Gaslight") and romantic lessons learned ("I'm the One" and "Are You Using Your Heart"). accordion, washboard, electric and acoustic guitar, piano, harmonica, tenor sax, pedal steel, mandolin, bass, drums . . . and kazoo!
Miracle Mule plays the most rocking, hoof-stomping, tail-swishing music north of the Golden Gate. They describe their music as “Swampy Tonk,” a self-coined term for down-home country honky-tonk blended with Louisiana influences like Cajun, Zydeco and New Orleans R&B.
Now in their 15th year, this well-established Marin County septet features three lead singers, rich vocal harmonies, rock-solid rhythm, as well as extraordinary instrumental variety, including accordion, washboard, electric and acoustic guitar, piano, harmonica, tenor sax, pedal steel, mandolin, bass, drums . . . and kazoo!
The Mules are fortunate to have two accomplished song-writers, who craft fun, danceable, sing-along-able original songs.
A Miracle Mule show is always loads of fun! The Mules have a great sense of humor and lots of folks enjoy their between-song banter nearly as much as the music. As for the music, it draws folks onto the dancefloor like bees to honeysuckle, and groups of dancers tend to follow the band around and show up wherever it plays.
