Rhythm & Blues

Keys, drums, bass, guitar, 3 piece horn section

Jessica’s band consist of some of the top musicians in the bay area. She has extensive experience playing the San Francisco Bay Area music circuit. Performing amazing originals and an extensive collection of R&B, funk, soul, jazz, and pop. Every performance the audience dances the night away. From the moment she walks on stage, her audience is held in the palm of her hand. She has won numerous awards for her incredible voice. She has sang the national anthem for every notable professional sports organization on the West Coast. Jessica's debut album "Till it Happens to You" and has released four music videos "Love is Real", "Road to Love", "I am Yours" and “I am Courageous”.

Garrett Wheeler, Metro Newspaper says hometown diva, Jessica Johnson, a singer who has continued to amaze listeners across the state. Johnson's vibrant blend of classic jazz, R&B, and soul is displayed with the sparkling vitality of inherent talent in her case, vocal palette as dynamic as you're likely to find in contemporary jazz. of course, Johnson is more than comfortable issuing any number of pop-hits audience members (like myself) may enjoy, particularly an amazing cover of Alicia Keys' "No One.

Here is a little bit more about Jessica:
She is a college graduate, singer/songwriter, dancer, choreographer, and fitness instructor. She has won countless awards, performed at the top west coast sporting events, she has owned her own fitness studio, she has put on shows and performed on NBC, she sings regularly at Cathedral of Faith, writes her own music and has made music videos. These are just a few of her accomplishments. But above all she aims to make the world a better place, help others live their best lives and inspire people to come alive through music, fitness and dance. She also, lives at 1254 Charise Ct. and hikes Quicksilver quite often.

Sidewalks TV says she “she is definitely no cookie cutter singer; her voice is far superior to even some of the commercial singers and she is a seasoned vet on the music scene [;] her bright, vibrant voice reaches all generations.” With her timeless allure of jazz, the soulful rhythms of R&B, and the emotive power of soul.

Guitar, bass, drums

Jinx Jones has been twice nominated for Male Rockabilly Artist of the Year by the Ameripolitan Music Awards, has received gold and platinum record awards for his work with R&B divas, En Vogue, has won songwriting awards and has been recognized as one of the hottest acts on the San Francisco music scene.

In Jinx Jones’ impressive musical career he has visited nearly every conceivable style and genre of the electric guitar. From his work Chuck Berry, Solomon Burke, and Roy Buchanan to his own acclaimed rockabilly albums, “License to Twang,” “Rumble & Twang,” “Rip and Run,” Live Twang in Finland.” And “Twang-Tastic!,” Jones has always strived to expand the possibilities of the instrument. He accepts every musical challenge head on, always making an impressive statement with his music. The one thing that remains consistent throughout Jones’ multi-stylistic journey is the grace and finesse of his virtuoso playing.

"Jinx is a guitar virtuoso who seamlessly moves from rockabilly to jazz to twang and back again, sometimes in the same song. Those with a liner note obsession will remember Jinx’s playing on En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind.”
(San Francisco Chronicle)

“Jinx Jones is out there. Four or five nights a week, the great guitar player with the immaculate pompadour can be found at various Bay Area venues, working the stage, doing his thing. The Colorado native came up serving as a sideman to rock ’n’ roll royalty, playing with the likes of Chuck Berry and Solomon Burke.”
Aidin Vaziri, San Francisco Chronicle’s pop music critic

“Imagine an advanced guitar textbook on 10. Listeners all will doubtless be thunderstruck by Jinx's authoritative command of labrythinian note aggregates, lightning- fleet navigations, and esoteric chordal modes. One intuits they are in the twang-upholstered, jazzy Court of a flat- gone Monarch, one for whom fair Aoede is a favored midnight-hour ship.”

Americana

4

Guitar/vocals, Lead guitar, drums, bass/vocals

Voted "Best Local Band for 2024" by the East Bay Express, Oakland's Joe Rut & The Sunshine Shovelers can get a dance floor moving or quiet a room with a ballad. Singer/songwriter Joe Rut’s quirky humor underpins a heartfelt, richly lyrical, and subtly hallucinatory alt-country tapestry. It is a deeply American music, although the border guards seem to have been bribed with psychedelics to look the other way as other influences stream in. Rut’s music has been compared to Todd Snider, The Band, and 70’s-era Grateful Dead. Drummer Tim Rowe and Bassist Russel Kiel(of East Bay country stalwarts Crying Time) keeps the songs swinging, while guitar wunderkind Jamie Duncan (The Dogweeds, Aaron Burnham & The Brushfires) drops jaws with his twangy prowess.

“[Joe Rut] is where so many traditions and genres that have slowly started to disappear actually still reside…Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt. They would all be gracious in welcoming this young man to the tattered carpet stage…"humor spiced with poignancy." That’s Rut’s forte whether he is aware of it or not. He has cornered the market already...a classic in the making.”

-John Apice, No Depression

Although Rut’s recent travels of the country in search of songs with his dog Potato were cut short by the theft of his van and instruments, he was able to recover “The Pretty Good Book”, a massive antique accounting ledger in which he records his songs. Says Rut, “I wanted to call it ‘The Good Book’, but it turns out the bible had that name sewn up, so…you know? That I was able to get the book back after distributing a massive stack of flyers was pretty amazing. It was returned by a homeless guy who refused any reward for its return. He had found it and held onto it for weeks before he saw my flyer because, he told me, he could ‘tell that someone’s heart and soul had gone into it.’ That moment almost made the whole incident worth it!”

While many of Joe’s songs clearly stem from an established folk-troubadour tradition, his adventurousness and refusal to shy away from “the weird” set his footprints away from the well-worn middle of the road. Joe’s songs find him drunk-dialing his friends at 3 AM Tuesday morning, critiquing Mr. Spock’s love-life, offering a lift to an abandoned black velvet Elvis painting, or pondering the tragicomic mating rituals of Porcupines. Says Joe, “I was recently accused by a critic of ’veering dangerously close to novelty songs’…as if that’s a bad thing?”

Joe’s omnivorous musical tastes have seen him as a founding member of country harmony group Loretta Lynch, and as an alumnus of the bluegrass mowing Spikedrivers, folk rockers 86 (the band), noise/looping duo Lumper/Splitter, and experimental guitarist Henry Kaiser’s Grooves of Mystery. Joe has played with these groups at England’s Glastonbury Music Festival, the venerable Fillmore auditorium, Burning Man, side stages at Shoreline Amphitheatre and the Concord Pavillion, and fronting his own band as a headliner at Berkeley’s Freight & Salvage, and to a sold-out crowd at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. 12 solo albums in, Joe Rut looks forward to talking about himself in the 3rd person for years to come!

Fullerton, CA

Americana

guitar, violin, tuba, drums, bouzouki, banjo

The Goers started when John, actual professional mariner, got back from a long voyage at sea. "Hey, long-time musical collaborator David Dutton," he said" " let’s do some of these sea shanties and nautical folk songs from centuries past I’ve been learning" Conveniently, Bob Aul, tuba maestro and brother-in-law was down the street playing tuba. Off duty from LA band, Roses Pawn Shop, violinist, Tim Weed and Vocalist, Paul Givant, lend their talents in the ways only people who owe you favors can. Together Goers make.
The Goers have a tuba. I mean I could stop there but they also have a violin and drums and banjo and Irish bouzouki, two very handsome beards, penny whistle and guitars, both electrified and unelectrified. The Goers not only play traditional sea shanties and nautical music spanning the centuries and continents, but write original music with melodies and harmonies, lyrics and stories that are sometimes camouflaged as traditional but stray far enough from the Smithsonian folkways Collection to still anger your grandparents.
The Goers’ 3rd studio album, “Jug Of This” adapts traditional songs and themes and reimagines them with a grit and urgency of a band yearning to play them out in a way that would appeal to both sailors and land lubbers alike.

Here is the blurb from the Los Nadies website

Danceable Latin rock with a conscience

Musical cross-pollinators extraordinaire, Los Nadies curate an inventive, versatile, and refreshing remix of Latin American music. Funky, brash, and extremely danceable, their repertoire easily journeys through rumba flamenco, hip-hop, cumbia, and rock, within a bat of an eye. Impassioned singing, poetically charged lyrics and engaging stage presence drive their lively performances. Los Nadies’ music innovates and boundary-breaks, by design. Their music often mirrors and reflects the Latino experience in a globalized US, with immigrant roots hailing from Argentina, Bolivia, Perú, Mexico and the San Francisco Bay Area.

We are a fun accomplished familia musical who enjoy creating and performing together and audiences catch our good vibes and good grooves, starting with our energetic lead singer and accomplished instrumentalists.
Our catalog includes both originals(25+) and some covers, but our focus is on original music. We are mixing and mastering a 10-song all original recording (at El Cerrito studios), plan to release in May.
Happy to supply demo versions of original songs if interested.
Unfortunately our video offerings are not very well tended and curated.
As mentioned in other correspondence we have played regularly at Black Star, Sailing Goat (4/5/25 upcoming) and were featured in the Kermes by Washington PTA in '23 (and then held a benefit for them at Baltic Kiss after)- we have had connection and presence in the Point Richmond scene.

Steve Annese – Lead vocals, backing vocals
Alan Kuczer – Guitars, Backing vocals
Patrick Howe – Bass, backing vocals
Bill Mickesh – Drums
As all good things do, it all began in a garage in Burbank, CA in the late 1980s when guitarist, Alan Kuczer walked into a garage and met with drummer Bill “The Animal” Mickesh and bassist, Bob Massini. The three worked on Alan’s original ideas and built songs while searching high and low for the ideal vocalist and frontman for the as yet unnamed band. After “too long of a search” Steven Annese walked into their lives and started the ball rolling. Within a few months the newly christened “KUCZER” band had hit the Hollywood club scene, venturing as far out as the South Bay and Orange County to reach those that refused to come to the City of Lights. Every weekend was time for the band to head to the Sunset Strip to promote the shows, music, meeting new and old friends
It didn’t take long for the band to reach headlining status around the city and before they knew it industry people were taking notice. Raymundo Upton of the prestigious Concerts West management company took the band under his wing and label attention was coming hard and fast with Jet Records showing strong interest in signing the band. While those details were being worked on, KUCZER was chosen the best band in Hollywood, which resulted in a trip to Rincon, Puerto Rico to perform at Rincon Fest in front of thousands of people on the Beach of Rincon. As things happen in the music business, interests change, new fads take over from former and the type of music Kuczer was performing was no longer in vogue as the Seattle scene was talking over and the Sunset Strip became deserted in 2003.
People move on in their lives, sometimes moving to different cities, sometimes creating families of their own, getting corporate jobs and so on. And, other times, they decide to “put the band back together” after three decades. And that’s exactly what most of the members of Kuczer did, only now under the name REV IT UP. The memorable name change related to one of their hit songs. Bassist, Bob Massini wasn’t available, allowing Bay area’s Patrick Howe to step in to hold down the bottom line.
The quartet’s self-titled debut Ep which you can hear in its entirety at www.rev-it-up.net kicks off with its namesake, a high velocity melodic piece of classic rock done in, well, classic form.
You can hear the “Nasty Girl” keeps the ball rolling with an undeniable groove that drags the listener out of their seat, while “The Bridge” is a melodic, introspective number that about a broken love and a dream that if you could actually see all the way across to the other side of the bridge you would actually find the love reunited.
With “Trixie” things kick into high gear once again with some phenomenal guitar work from Alan Kuczer and “Top of the Rock” ends things on a powerful note in arena rock fashion.
The Bay Area/Hollywood band may be around for a second time but they’re no longer chasing the brass ring. This time it’s more about the actual music and not trying to outdo your friends’ bands. Hitting the stage to give music lovers a taste for their Sunset Strip years when songs were about fun and the drive these musicians put out from fulfilling their dreams to move across the country to be in “The Band”.
These boys are back at it living the dream, dedicated. They won’t stop even at the Top of The Rock! Whatever the case may be, it’s absolutely time to “REV IT UP.”
